“TO OWN SOMETHING WORTHWHILE HAS AN INTRINSIC LINK TO THAT item BEING MADE WITH CARE AND THOUGHT.”

It all began back in 2014, when I whittled my first spoon with a chisel and gouge in dad’s garden shed. At present, I spend my days making furniture for Bermondsey based employment program Goldfinch and in my spare time carefully carving wares of all shapes and sizes.

Everything I make is treated with food grade mineral oil, followed by a beeswax and coconut oil balm (spoons) or food grade Danish oil (boards). To give your product the best chance of a long life, avoid soaking or cleaning it in your dishwasher, as it has the potential to damage fibres and cause you problems in the future. Instead, wash with warm soapy water, rinse, then dry with a cloth. Standing your board on its side will also ensure it drys evenly. If you find the grain rises slightly, fear not — a light sand with a fine grit sandpaper and an oil or wax should do the trick.

And of course, if there's anything else you need to speak with me about, I encourage you to get in touch.
